Manager – U.S. and Canadian personal/private client tax services

Cadesky Tax and Cadesky U.S. Tax Ltd. are independent tax consulting firms.  

We work with a wide range of clients including private businesses, owner-managers, multi-jurisdictional families and businesses, multi-national corporations and high net worth individuals.  We assist in designing and implementing tax strategies that result in minimizing tax for our clients.

We provide a full suite of U.S. compliance services including the preparation of U.S. and Canadian personal income tax returns and all required information returns.  Cadesky U.S. Tax employs a number of U.S. Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) and IRS Enrolled Agents, in addition to Canadian Chartered Professional Accounts (CPAs) as team members.

Located in our Downtown office, the Manager – U.S. and Canadian personal/private client tax services should possess strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal. The candidate must be able to converse with clients in a professional manner. They would be expected to manage and mentor staff.  Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Must be able to work remotely and in an office environment. Willing to learn.

The successful candidate must have a U.S. CPA designation and at least 5 years’ worth of experience.

The successful candidate will report to and take direction from the partners on various matters, however they should have a thorough knowledge of U.S. and Canadian cross-border planning and compliance issues relating to:

  • U.S. controlled foreign corporations’ rules and filings (Form 5471),
  • U.S. passive foreign investment corporations – PFICs (Form 8621).
  • Distributions from foreign trusts (Forms 3520, 3520-A)

Cadesky U.S. Tax provides a training program which consists of both internal and external courses. The successful candidate would be expected to participate in all training activities.

Senior Associate – U.S. Corporate tax services

Cadesky Tax and Cadesky U.S. Tax Ltd. are independent tax consulting firms.  

We work with a wide range of clients including private businesses, owner-managers, multi-jurisdictional families and businesses, multi-national corporations and high net worth individuals.  We assist our clients in implementing tax efficient cross-border strategies and with the filing of their U.S. corporate and partnership tax returns and required information reporting.

Located in our Downtown office, the Senior Associate (U.S. Corporate Tax Services) should possess strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.  The candidate:

  • Must be able to communicate with clients in a professional manner;
  • Must be able to work both remotely and in an office environment;
  • Must be able to do self-review of work for completeness and accuracy;
  • Monitor project timeliness against targets, adjust were necessary, and inform other team members of issues as they arise;
  • Must be able to correspond with the IRS and state revenue departments in response to specific notices and queries; and
  • Must be efficient and willing to learn.

Candidates should have a minimum of two years’ experience in the preparation of US corporate, partnership and state income tax returns.

The successful candidate will report to and take direction from the partners and managers on various matters, however they should have knowledge and be able to prepare returns relating to:

  • U.S. Corporation Income Tax Return (Form 1120)
  • U.S. Income Tax Return of a Foreign Corporation (Form 1120-F)
  • Information Return of a 25% Foreign-Owned U.S. Corporation (Form 5472)
  • U.S. Return of Partnership Income (Form 1065) and related Schedule K-1s
  • All associated state filings, determination of state nexus
  • U.S. Passive Foreign Investment Companies – PFIC (Form 8621)
  • U.S. Report of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts (FBAR – FinCEN Form 114)
  • Review and analyze trial balances, asset continuity schedules and sales breakdown in preparing tax return working papers
  • Understand book to tax adjustments and the ability to apply differences based on the Internal Revenue Code

Experience with CCH ProSystems would be preferred. Though not required, U.S. personal tax experience would be an asset.

Client Coordinator/Administrative Support

Cadesky U.S. Tax is a full service U.S. tax consulting and compliance firm. 

We provide tax services to U.S. persons in Canada, Canadians investing in or moving to the United States and Americans investing in or moving to Canada.

Due to continued growth we are looking to hire a person who can provide both administrative support, is able to communicate and coordinate with clients and is able to do data entry.  Preference would be given to candidates who have some accounting, tax or financial background. Training will be provided to ensure the successful candidate can fulfill their responsibilities. The successful candidate must be able to fulfill the following duties and responsibilities as well as have the necessary skills and attributes.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Coordination with clients including the preparation of engagement letters, information requests and following up with clients, or their advisors, with respect to the collection of any necessary or outstanding information;
  • Contacting clients with respect to delivery of tax returns or other documents;
  • Able to diagnose potential client service issues and provide solutions;
  • Contacting clients to remind them of important deadlines, such as making quarterly estimated payments;
  • General administrative work such as scanning documents, faxing and photocopying as required;
  • The ability to file tax returns electronically with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) or the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS);
  • Calling the CRA and/or IRS to get status updates for clients; and
  • Assisting with the preparation of client working papers, tax returns and data entry.

Skills

  • Strong computer skills, especially knowledge of Excel;
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, ability to get the job done on their own once given directions by the partners; and
  • Strong writing and communication skills. The ability to communicate with clients and professional staff, via telephone and emails, in a professional manner.  Ability to communicate in English is essential.

Tax Manager/ Senior Manager - Downtown

Cadesky Tax is an independent tax consulting firm of CPAs

We work with a wide range of clients including private businesses, owner-managers, multi-jurisdictional families, multi-national corporations and high net worth individuals, to help them plan tax efficient strategies.

Located physically in our Downtown office as well as virtually, the Tax Manager will  work directly with our tax partners and be involved with the implementation as well as related compliance matters.

We are looking for a responsible and energetic person who is committed to tax consulting as a career. The candidate should enjoy, and be comfortable, dealing directly with clients and their advisors. The candidate should also possess good communication skills, be a team player and be able to work to deadlines.

For this position, we are looking for a chartered professional accountant, with three to five years’ experience who has completed Parts I, II and III of the CPA Canada In-depth tax course or the MTax program.

In addition to on the job, you will learn advanced tax skills through our in-house training program and seminars and outside courses, as appropriate, offered by CPA Canada, the Canadian Tax Foundation and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).

Accounting Clerk

Cadesky Tax is an independent tax consulting firm of CPAs  

We work with a wide range of clients including private businesses, owner-managers, multi-jurisdictional families, multi-national corporations and high net worth individuals, to help them plan tax efficient strategies.

Located in our North York office, the Accounting Clerk will assist with the internal accounting of Cadesky Tax.

The Accounting Clerk will also work with the tax team on various income tax related compliance matters including:

  • Modeling of tax computations related to planning files.
  • Liaison with the Canada Revenue Agency
  • Preparation of Canadian corporate, individual and trust tax returns.
  • Preparation of foreign reporting and tax election forms.

The ideal candidate must have an accounting background, possess good communication skills, be a team player and ensure deadlines are met.  Prior exposure with the Taxprep software for Canadian tax return preparation would be an asset.
