U.S. Tax Senior

We are looking for a U.S. tax practitioner who has significant experience in Canada-United States cross-border tax services, primarily in the personal (Expatriate) field. The ideal candidate will have either a Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant designation or a U.S. Certified Public Accountant designation (or both). Cadesky U.S. Tax Ltd. is experiencing significant growth and is need of an individual who is willing to grow with the practice.

The ideal candidate must have strong compliance skills in addition to a working knowledge of both the Canadian Income Tax Act and the U.S. Internal Revenue Code and must be capable of doing independent research, where appropriate. Candidates need to have at least a preliminary knowledge of subpart F issues, Controlled Foreign Corporation issues, Passive Foreign Investment Company issues, etc.

The successful candidate must have strong inter-personal skills and must be willing to work with clients directly. As such, the successful candidate must be proficient in English with strong written and verbal skills.

The successful candidate will be trained in tax through our in-house training program, seminars, on the job training and attendance at our annual conference of the Tax Specialist Group. A comprehensive training program will be developed which will involve outside courses, where appropriate, in addition to the Firm’s comprehensive in-house training.

Administrative Assistant

Located in our Downtown office at 130 King Street West, the Administrative Assistant is primarily responsible for providing support to a Tax Partner in our busy firm.   The incumbent will be accountable for general administrative duties such as arranging meetings and phone calls, preparing invoices and sending payment reminders, preparing letters, memos and PowerPoint presentations, telephone screening, dicta, routine faxing, scanning filing, photocopying and arranging travel.  Additional responsibilities include reception coverage and supporting other staff as necessary.

This is a full-time, contract position covering a maternity leave for approximately 9 (nine) months but has the potential for full time, permanent depending on the Firm’s evolving needs.

The role requires the following skills and experience:

  • Minimum 4-5 years experience providing administrative support to management, ideally in a professional services firm.
  • Experience with time and billing systems and invoicing.
  • Ability to use judgment in handling routine issues.
  • Strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills with a high comfort level in dealing with individuals at all levels.
  • Ability to exercise discretion with highly confidential information.
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills, ability to deal courteously and effectively with people.
  • Proven self-starter who takes initiative and thrives in a fast paced, pressure filled environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced computer skills including in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational skills with experience in file and records management.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, to multi-task, be flexible, and move from one priority to another while maintaining a high level of accuracy and strict attention to detail.
  • Relevant post-secondary education or equivalent working experience.
