Senior Associate – U.S. and Canadian/private client tax services

  • Cadesky Tax and Cadesky U.S. Tax Ltd. are independent tax consulting firms.  We work with a wide range of clients including private businesses, owner-managers, multi-jurisdictional families and businesses, multi-national corporations and high net worth individuals.  We assist clients in designing and implementing tax strategies that result in minimizing tax for our clients.We provide a full suite of U.S. compliance services including the preparation of U.S. and Canadian personal income tax returns and all required information returns.  Cadesky U.S. Tax employs a number of U.S. Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) and IRS Enrolled Agents, in addition to Canadian Chartered Professional Accountants (CPAs) as team members.

    We currently have an excellent career opportunity for a Senior Associate, U.S. and Canadian personal/private client tax services, located in our Downtown office. This position offers excellent opportunities to learn and develop.

    The successful candidate will report to and take direction from the partners and managers on various matters, however they should have knowledge and be able to prepare information returns relating to:

    • U.S. controlled foreign corporations (Form 5471)
    • U.S. passive foreign investment corporations (Form 8621)
    • Foreign Disregarded Entities (FDEs) and Foreign Branches (FBs) (Form 8858)
    • S. Report of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts (FBAR – FinCEN Form 114)
    • S. Statement of Specified Foreign Financial Assets (Form 8938)
    • S. Forms 3520 and 3520-A
    • Canadian Form T1135

    To qualify for the role you must have

    • A post-secondary degree in a related field and a minimum of two to three years of US and Canadian personal income tax experience
    • Though not required, having a US CPA designation would be preferred
    • Knowledge of current automated tax processing systems and tax laws in an area of technical specialization
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel
    • Familiarity with CCH ProSystems would be preferred.

Manager – U.S. and Canadian personal/private client tax services

We work with a wide range of clients including private businesses, owner-managers, multi-jurisdictional families and businesses, multi-national corporations and high net worth individuals.  We assist in designing and implementing tax strategies that result in minimizing tax for our clients.

We provide a full suite of U.S. compliance services including the preparation of U.S. and Canadian personal income tax returns and all required information returns.  Cadesky U.S. Tax employs a number of U.S. Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) and IRS Enrolled Agents, in addition to Canadian Chartered Professional Accounts (CPAs) as team members.

Located in our Downtown office, the Manager – U.S. and Canadian personal/private client tax services should possess strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal. The candidate must be able to converse with clients in a professional manner. They would be expected to manage and mentor staff.  Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Must be able to work remotely and in an office environment. Willing to learn.

The successful candidate must have a U.S. CPA designation and at least 5 years’ worth of experience.

The successful candidate will report to and take direction from the partners on various matters, however they should have a thorough knowledge of U.S. and Canadian cross-border planning and compliance issues relating to:

  • U.S. controlled foreign corporations’ rules and filings (Form 5471),
  • U.S. passive foreign investment corporations – PFICs (Form 8621).
  • Distributions from foreign trusts (Forms 3520, 3520-A)

Senior Associate – U.S. Corporate tax services

Cadesky Tax and Cadesky U.S. Tax Ltd. are independent tax consulting firms.  

We work with a wide range of clients including private businesses, owner-managers, multi-jurisdictional families and businesses, multi-national corporations and high net worth individuals.  We assist our clients in implementing tax efficient cross-border strategies and with the filing of their U.S. corporate and partnership tax returns and required information reporting.

Located in our Downtown office, the Senior Associate (U.S. Corporate Tax Services) should possess strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.  The candidate:

  • Must be able to communicate with clients in a professional manner;
  • Must be able to work both remotely and in an office environment;
  • Must be able to do self-review of work for completeness and accuracy;
  • Monitor project timeliness against targets, adjust were necessary, and inform other team members of issues as they arise;
  • Must be able to correspond with the IRS and state revenue departments in response to specific notices and queries; and
  • Must be efficient and willing to learn.

Candidates should have a minimum of two years’ experience in the preparation of US corporate, partnership and state income tax returns.

The successful candidate will report to and take direction from the partners and managers on various matters, however they should have knowledge and be able to prepare returns relating to:

  • U.S. Corporation Income Tax Return (Form 1120)
  • U.S. Income Tax Return of a Foreign Corporation (Form 1120-F)
  • Information Return of a 25% Foreign-Owned U.S. Corporation (Form 5472)
  • U.S. Return of Partnership Income (Form 1065) and related Schedule K-1s
  • All associated state filings, determination of state nexus
  • U.S. Passive Foreign Investment Companies – PFIC (Form 8621)
  • U.S. Report of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts (FBAR – FinCEN Form 114)
  • Review and analyze trial balances, asset continuity schedules and sales breakdown in preparing tax return working papers
  • Understand book to tax adjustments and the ability to apply differences based on the Internal Revenue Code

Experience with CCH ProSystems would be preferred. Though not required, U.S. personal tax experience would be an asset.

Office Clerk

Cadesky Tax is a leading firm in our industry.  We work with a wide range of clients to help them with tax efficient strategies.  Our services include estate planning, corporate restructuring, international and Canada-US cross border planning and transfer pricing.  Through Cadesky US Tax, we assist with US tax filings.  With many years of experience, our team of professionals aim to deliver excellence in tax planning services.

We are looking for an individual who is enthusiastic, energetic and who has the ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Office Clerk will assist with ensuring the smooth operation of the offices of Cadesky Tax.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent time management skills; ability to plan and prioritize daily work while multi-tasking;
  • Familiarity with office procedures and basic accounting principles;
  • Basic Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint);
  • Attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Must work from the Toronto North office of Cadesky Tax;
  • Must have a car which will be available for use at work.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Office Clerk is responsible for but not limited to the following duties:

  • Sort and Distribute Incoming mail, faxes and courier deliveries for the office
  • Prepare outgoing mail or large mail outs, registered mail etc. including attendance to post office runs
  • Prepare and arrange courier pick up and deliveries
  • Assist in setting up for meetings and maintain cleanliness of common spaces e.g.; meeting rooms/reception area
  • Maintain office supplies inventory and replenish office supplies when necessary e.g.; change of toner cartridges, loading paper to photocopier, stock fridge, load dishwasher and set dishwasher to run
  • Update various logs maintained by the firm
  • Assist with other tasks as required
  • Ensure office is locked/unlocked at appropriate times
